Resources for Developing Curriculum and Teaching Materials

The curriculum for a good MTB-MLE program should be based on a thorough knowledge of the students and their communities; their values, their language, and their educational goals. The curriculum must also correspond to the national curriculum. The following are resources to help develop curriculum for a variety of mother tongue based programs, including MTB-MLE:

  This short paper outlines key foundational principles for MTB MLE curriculum development.

  Chapter 6 of this essential planning guide focuses on curriculum development. It contains a summary of curriculum planning principles, questions to consider when planning curriculum, and sample forms for research and curriculum planning.

  This short guide provides guidelines and forms for the initial preparation stages of curriculum development.

  This updated edition of Math Activity Pages is a resource of activity pages for MLE educators who are preparing mother-tongue teaching materials for children in early primary grades. Individual pages can be selected and used as appropriate. The instructions and other text should be translated into the mother tongue.
